In the port Salala in the south Oman a large-scale fire broke out at oil storage facilities after a drone attack, which, according to preliminary data, could be of Iranian origin.
Videos posted online show powerful explosions and thick black smoke over the oil tanks. The flames engulfed several fuel tanks on the territory of the port terminal.
A strategic port on the Arabian Sea
Port of Salalah is one of the key logistics centres in the region Arabian Sea. Significant volumes of oil and oil products pass through the pipeline, which are transported to Asia, Africa and Europe.
Experts note that an attack on infrastructure of this level could affect energy supplies in the region and increase tensions in global energy markets.
