Elon Musk introduced a new messenger XChat, which is positioned as a competitor to Telegram. The service is already available for iOS users, and an Android version is promised later.
XChat presentation
New XChat messenger officially launched Elon Musk 25 April 2026. The service is positioned as a direct competitor Telegram.
During the presentation, Musk emphasised security, speed, and integration with services X. The app is already available for iOS users.
Main functions
XChat supports end-to-end encryption of messages and message deletion for all participants. Voice and video calls between devices are available.
The messenger has built-in Grok - X's own AI that can be used directly in the chat. There is also a ban on screenshots and recording of conversations, as well as secret chats with disappearing messages.
Group chats and integration
Users can create group chats for up to 500 participants with support for X accounts. The messenger has no ads, which emphasises its focus on privacy.
XChat is integrated with the X ecosystem, which allows you to use a single account for various company services.
Availability of the application
Currently, XChat is only available for iOS. The developers said that the Android version will be released later.
For now, Android users can only register to receive notifications when the app is launched on their platform.
