Additional funds for winter support from the EU

European Union will allocate another EUR 100 million to Ukraine to prepare for the winter period.
This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas during a joint press conference with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga in Kyiv.

According to Callas, the new package is aimed at maintaining energy stability, provision of the population generators, heating systems, shelters and winter equipment.


The EU has already mobilised over €800 million

«The European Union has already mobilised 800 million euros to support Ukraine this winter, and we are working on additional 100 million for generators, shelters and equipment for frosty conditions,» said Kallas.

She added that the aid is coordinated through EU Emergency Response Centre (ERCC), The company has been working to deliver equipment to the affected regions as quickly as possible.


Context.

European countries continue to support Ukraine in the face of Russia's energy attacks.
Last winter, the EU already handed over more than 5 thousand generators, tens of kilometres of cable networks and spare parts for power plants.
The new assistance package aims to Strengthen Ukraine's energy resilience and ensure uninterrupted heat supply to critical infrastructure.
