A new incident relating to mobilisation methods is gaining attention in Ukraine. According to Ukrmedia, a resident of one of the regions stated that her father had been detained by representatives of the Territorial Recruitment Centre (TRC), using an advertisement for the sale of a car on the popular platform AUTO.RIA as a pretext.

How the «buyer’s call» scam worked»

According to the detainee’s daughter, the situation unfolded according to a pre-planned scenario:

  • A call from a «potential buyer»: A man who had put his car up for sale received a phone call from unknown individuals who suggested meeting up to view the vehicle.

  • Detention instead of a plea bargain: When the seller arrived at the meeting point, instead of potential buyers, he was met by representatives of the TCC, who immediately arrested him.

Withholding information and the situation regarding medicines

The woman also shared details of what happened after her father was detained. The family faced serious resistance from the military registration and enlistment office staff:

«For a long time, the TCC officials flatly denied that my father had been detained and refused to provide any information about his whereabouts.».

In addition, the detainee required medical attention, but representatives of the TCC initially categorically refused to give him his medication from his relatives. Eventually, after the family’s persistent efforts, they managed to get the man the essential medication he needed.

No official comments have yet been received from representatives of the TCC or law enforcement agencies regarding this incident. The case is gaining traction online.
