Poltava region under fire: the consequences of the Russian attacks
On 20 June 2026, Russian shelling in the Poltava community resulted in the deaths of two people. The attacks targeted industrial sites, causing numerous fires. Fourteen people were injured, including six children who required medical attention.
Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) responded promptly to the calls. According to in their own words, the fires at several locations were successfully brought under control without any significant losses.
“We prevented the fire from spreading and minimised the impact of the enemy’s attacks,” said the rescue workers.
In total, more than 100 rescue workers and 27 pieces of equipment were deployed to deal with the aftermath of the incidents. The authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and to keep an eye on safety updates. The situation in the region remains difficult, and local residents are concerned about possible further attacks.
