On 28 and 29 June, the Ukrainian military carried out a series of strikes on key military targets belonging to the Russian occupiers, including bridges and depots, thereby hampering their logistics.

Briefly about the main points
  • The Ukrainian Defence Forces have struck three bridges used by the Russian army.
  • A logistics depot belonging to the occupying forces has been destroyed.
  • Three UAV control centres and an electronic warfare centre were hit.
  • Two military communications facilities in the Moscow Region have been damaged.

Disruption to key logistics routes

The Ukrainian Defence Forces have carried out strikes on three key bridges used by the Russian Federation’s army to deploy personnel and equipment. In particular, a road bridge near Novoazovsk in the Donetsk region and two railway bridges in the Luhansk region came under fire. The General Staff confirmed, as these facilities were of critical importance to the logistics of the Russian forces.

Destruction of the depot and command posts

In addition to the bridges, Ukrainian forces struck an enemy logistics depot in the Novosvitlivka area of Luhansk Oblast. Three drone control centres were also targeted: one near Hulyaypole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, one in the Tyotkino area of Kursk Oblast in the Russian Federation, and one near Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast.

“These strikes are hampering the coordination of Russian forces” operations,” the military said.

Damage to military communications facilities

The General Staff has confirmed that two military communications facilities in the Moscow Region have been hit. One of the buildings was completely destroyed, whilst the other sustained significant damage. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the Ukrainian forces’ operations in destroying critical elements of Russian military infrastructure.

Why it matters

Damage to bridges, depots, communications nodes and drone control centres complicates logistics, coordination and the supply of Russian troops. Such strikes form part of the Ukrainian Defence Forces’ strategy to reduce the Russian Federation’s military capabilities and disrupt the functioning of its command and supply systems.
