Russian drones caused five fires in the Novhorod-Siverskyi, Koryukivka and Chernihiv districts of Chernihiv Oblast. A minibus, a farm building, a disused holiday home, a control room at a petrol station and dry vegetation caught fire. No one was injured. Emergency services quickly extinguished all the fires.

The aftermath of the attacks in three districts
In the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, an enemy drone crash caused a minibus to catch fire in one of the villages. In another location, a farm building caught fire following a drone strike.
In the early hours of the morning, Russian troops also attacked a local, disused holiday resort. A fire broke out in the two-storey building.
In the Koryukivka district, a control building at a petrol station caught fire following a strike. In the Chernihiv district, dry vegetation caught fire after a UAV crashed.
There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the attacks. Emergency services quickly brought the fires under control at all locations.
Ongoing risks for border communities
The attack took place against a backdrop of regular the use of Russian drones in the Chernihiv region. The police had previously reported that the strikes were affecting not only border communities but also other settlements in the region, and had warned of the risk of further attacks on emergency services’ bases.
The Chernihiv Regional Military Administration has been carrying out the following since 1 July: compulsory evacuation civilians from 19 border villages. It covers settlements in the Novhorod-Siverskyi, Koryukivka and Chernihiv districts and, according to the Regional State Administration, is due to last until 1 September 2026.
This latest incident was not specifically linked to the decision to evacuate. At the same time, the combination of regular attacks and evacuation measures points to ongoing security risks for residents in the border region.
