During the night of 30 July, the Russian army carried out a massive missile attack on Lviv. Strike in the Zaliznychnyi district
Air alarm An air-raid alert was issued in the Lviv region at 04:14 due to cruise missiles travelling from the Ternopil region towards the region. Between approximately 04:40 and 04:45, explosions were heard in Lviv, and air defence forces were deployed. The all-clear was given at 05:18.
The most damage was reported on Paton and Vyhovsky Streets. A rocket fragment was found near one of the buildings on Vyhovskyi Street. Fires broke out at the impact sites, and rescue workers used specialist equipment to evacuate residents from the damaged buildings.
Staff from the State Emergency Service freed one man from the rubble and rescued a total of seven people.
The injured have been taken to hospital; the city is dealing with the aftermath
Initially, the city authorities reported six casualties, but the number subsequently rose. According to updated figures from the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, 26 people required medical attention. Children are among the injured; one child is in hospital.
The damaged buildings have had their windows smashed, and their façades, roofs and flats have been destroyed. Rescue workers, medical staff, utility services and law enforcement officers are working at the scenes. Residents helped clear debris on Paton Street, and public transport routes have been diverted due to the closure of some streets.
