The UK is allocating 100 million pounds to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence, in particular for Patriot interceptor missiles. These and other air defence systems are due to arrive before the start of winter via the PURL mechanism, according to Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK. At the same time, London is bringing forward the delivery of drones, originally scheduled for 2026.

Interceptor missiles and other air defence systems

NATO has announced funding for procurement via PURL
NATO Secretary General Mark Rütte called on the Alliance’s member states to make greater efforts to support Ukraine. He stated that over the past year, the allies had allocated 10 billion dollars to the PURL and the procurement of US weaponry for Ukraine through the US Foreign Military Sales programme.
These funds are intended for the procurement of US-manufactured weapons for Ukraine’s needs. The British package forms part of such a procurement mechanism, under which funding is provided by allies and supplies are channelled to Ukraine.
