The manoeuvres are being prepared for a possible post-war scenario

According to The Times, the exercises will focus on a scenario involving a possible mission in Ukraine once hostilities have ceased. The stated figure of at least 1,500 people refers to those taking part in the manoeuvres in Poland, not the size of a potential contingent in Ukraine.

On 14 July, the Polish government announced that the country would be hosting its first military exercises «coalition of the resolute» in autumn 2026. Announcements in October will provide further details on the dates, the participants and the scope of the preparations.

They will be practising troop movements and supply operations

Participants will practise the redeployment of personnel, coordination between units from different countries and logistical support. The Times reports on the rehearsal of fuel and food deliveries; the Polish Ministry of National Defence had previously also cited the testing of command, control, logistics and force deployment among the objectives.

Minister of Defence of the United Kingdom Wes Streeting stated that «thousands» of military personnel would take part in large-scale training exercises in Poland next month. According to him, the aim is to ensure that allies are prepared to support Ukraine’s military training and its post-war reconstruction.

This refers to a coalition of states, not a NATO operation

«The »Coalition of the Resolute’ is an informal group of states led by the United Kingdom and France. The exercises are being conducted as part of its preparations for possible security guarantees for Ukraine, rather than as a declared NATO operation.

No decision has been announced regarding the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine. Such a scenario depends on the end of hostilities and political agreements, and the public details of a possible mission — its size, deployment areas and rules of engagement — have not been disclosed.
