Details of the operation

According to SBU sources:

  • the territory of the military unit generally housed approximately 12 launchers С-400;

  • there is a high probability that Other installations were also damaged;

  • The strike was carried out by long-range Ukrainian drones that successfully breached the region's air defences;

  • the operation was carried out SBU with the support of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service.

SBU commentary

An SBU source said:

«The SBU continues to work methodically to destroy enemy air defence systems that protect important military, infrastructure and logistics facilities.
Each such destroyed system is a hole in the defence that Ukrainian drones and missiles will definitely exploit.».

Context.

The S-400 Triumph is considered to be the most advanced and expensive element of Russian air defence.
Ukrainian attacks on these systems in Crimea, Kaluga and Krasnodar Krai have already led to a significant reduction in Russia's ability to cover its military facilities.

Novorossiysk is a key logistics centre, with a port, oil terminal and military depots located nearby. The destruction of the air defences opens up opportunities for further operations by the Ukrainian armed forces.
