The Mindich case
The investigation reports the discovery of 527 files with confidential data of officials and detectives.

An array of 527 closed dossiers on NABU detectives, MPs and journalists was found in Mindich's back office

In the premises associated with the so-called «back office» of the businessman and former official Maxim Mindich, NABU detectives found an array of 527 references, containing sensitive personal data of dozens of officials and representatives of public professions. This was reported by Economic Pravda with reference to the investigation materials.

According to the detectives, the information collected included Addresses of residence, passport details, contact details, places of work, family ties and other sensitive data, The information is usually inaccessible without the involvement of state registers or law enforcement agencies.

Who is in the dossier

The array contains a dossier on:

  • 15 NABU detectives who investigated high-profile cases in the energy and law enforcement sectors;

  • current and former MPs;

  • investigative journalists;

  • of high-ranking officials;

  • representatives of law enforcement agencies.

The NABU believes that some of this data could not be obtained without access to closed state registers, This may indicate cooperation of certain law enforcement officials with the «back office» of Mindic's "back office".

What the information could be collected for

The investigation is considering several possible versions:

  • attempted pressure or influence detectives and officials who may be involved in the investigation of cases against Mindic's entourage;

  • commercial use data;

  • collection of compromising material, which could be used to form a network of influence.

No official suspicions have been announced yet, but detectives call the amount of evidence found «unprecedented» for such cases.

What's next

The NABU is conducting additional examinations and establishing the sources of origin of the documents. It is also checking the range of persons who could have access to the array or use it on behalf of the client.
