SBU detains Russian FSB hitman who tried to kill DIU officer in Kyiv

Kyiv, Ukraine - employees Security Service of Ukraine prevented the contract killing of an officer Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, detained the FSB killer while he was preparing to commit a crime.

Detention «red-handed»

According to the SBU, the suspect was detained in Kyiv when he pulled out a gun and pointed it at a military intelligence officer. The operation was carried out by counterintelligence officers.

The detainee was 28-year-old foreigner, who was recruited by federal security service of the russian federation (fsb) via messenger Telegram. He arrived in Ukraine under the guise of a tourist.

Upon arrival, the agent:

• passed training in the Mykolaiv region;

• acquired means of conspiracy;

• received from the curator data on the «target» and the coordinates of the weapons cache;

• travelled to Kyiv to complete the task.

Reward for murder

The FSB promised the executor a reward for the physical elimination of the Ukrainian officer:

• 50 thousand US dollars;

• assistance with legalisation in one of the European Union countries.

Punishment.

SBU investigators notify the agent of the suspicion. He is charged with attempted premeditated murder committed in the interests of a foreign intelligence service.

To the detainee faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Russian special services are systematically trying to carry out Terrorist attacks and sabotage on the territory of Ukraine, In particular, they target members of the security and defence forces. The SBU emphasises that Counter-intelligence measures have been strengthened, and all such attempts will be severely suppressed.
