IZMAIL, Odesa Oblast - Russian forces launched a massive drone attack in southern Ukraine. The main target was the port in the city of Izmail - is one of the key logistics hubs on the Danube.
According to local authorities, the strike damaged port infrastructure and a foreign-flagged civilian vessel. The strike caused fires, which rescuers managed to quickly extinguish.
What is known about the attack
According to preliminary information, Russian forces used Shahed-type attack drones. The attack resulted in several hits within the port.
They were damaged:
- a civilian vessel flying the Panamanian flag
- berthing infrastructure and barge
- technical equipment of the port
The State Emergency Service reported that fires broke out on the territory of the facility, but they were quickly contained.
Implications for the city
In addition to port infrastructure, civilian facilities were also affected. In particular:
- The building of the service station was destroyed
- two passenger buses and seven cars burned down
- At least six private houses were damaged
- An ambulance was damaged
Windows were smashed in residential buildings and roofs were partially destroyed.

According to official reports, as of the morning, there is no information about any deaths or injuries. Emergency services continue to inspect the area.
