The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine call to regulate Telegram in Ukraine

Minister of the Interior Igor Klimenko and Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Alexander Rudnytsky declared the need to regulate the work of the messenger Telegram in Ukraine due to its use in recruitment for sabotage and terrorist attacks.

What is the problem

According to law enforcement officials, the platform is actively used by Russian special services and other criminals to find and engage perpetrators of illegal actions.

The Interior Minister stressed that there is no question of a complete ban on the messenger.

According to him, it is about developing mechanisms that will reduce the number of terrorist crimes. He also stressed that possible solutions require a broad discussion.

Telegram remains one of the most popular messengers in Ukraine. At the same time, law enforcement agencies have repeatedly reported its use to coordinate sabotage activities and information operations during the war.
