«Nova Poshta» is changing its logistics operations in response to Russian attacks
The latest attack came following the company’s decision to overhaul the entire parcel storage and sorting system.
On 31 August, it emerged that freight and post offices across Ukraine would gradually be converted into local warehouses. The company intends to distribute goods and postal flows across a larger number of smaller facilities rather than concentrating them in large logistics centres.
The reason is a series of Russian strikes on terminals and sorting centres.
Just a few days ago, Russia destroyed two «Nova Poshta» sorting centres — in Sumy and in the Kyiv region. Russian aircraft struck the terminal in Sumy with four guided bombs.
Russia is systematically attacking the postal infrastructure
Nova Poshta’s infrastructure is regularly targeted by Russian attacks.
Since the start of the full-scale war, dozens of the company’s branches, depots, terminals and sorting centres have been damaged or destroyed. By the summer of 2026, the number of such attacks was approaching 70.
As a result, the company is increasingly moving towards a decentralised model: if one large logistics facility were to be destroyed, the other parts of the network would be able to continue receiving, sorting and delivering parcels.
Following a further attack in Odesa, the exact extent of the damage, the number of consignments destroyed and any potential changes to the facility’s operations are still being assessed.
