SBU detains 17-year-old FSB agent who was preparing terrorist attacks in Kharkiv

Counter-intelligence Security Services of Ukraine exposed and detained a 17-year-old Kharkiv resident suspected of preparing terrorist attacks on behalf of Russian special services.

According to the investigation, the girl was detained red-handed during the curfew when she was taking an improvised explosive device from a cache near the garbage containers. The suspect planned to transport the explosive by taxi to the city centre and hide it for remote detonation during rush hour.

Recruitment via Telegram

The SBU reports that Russian special services recruited the minor through Telegram channel for finding «quick jobs».
She received the coordinates of the cache with the explosive device, as well as the place where the terrorist attack was planned.

What was seized during the searches

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized the items:

  • a ready-made improvised explosive device;

  • about 5 litres of chemical liquid;

  • components for the manufacture of another explosive;

  • a mobile phone for communication with the curator.

The defendant was served a notice of suspicion of high treason. Under this article, she faces up to 15 years' imprisonment.

Context.

Ukrainian intelligence services regularly report attempts by Russian structures to recruit citizens, including minors, through social media and messengers to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in frontline cities.

Law enforcers urge citizens to report suspicious offers of «easy money» and not to contact unknown curators.
