Hungarian Parliament adopts resolution against Ukraine's accession to the EU

Parliament Hungary approved a resolution opposing the membership of the Ukraine в European Union. The document also calls for no further EU funding of Ukraine's military needs. This was reported by the Hungarian media.

The document states that Hungary does not support Ukraine's accession to the European Union because of the ongoing war on its territory.

The resolution notes that:

  • its accession to the EU could make the European Union a party to the conflict

  • the country allegedly does not meet the membership criteria

In this regard, the Parliament called on the government to not to facilitate the start of full-fledged negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.

The resolution also calls on the Hungarian government to not to support the expansion of funding for Ukraine's military needs from the EU countries.

Such statements once again demonstrate the differences between Budapest and other EU members in their support for Ukraine.
