Ukraine proposes to increase pension to UAH 7,500

Parliament is considering a new bill to increase the minimum pension. The initiators propose to raise it to UAH 7,500 starting in 2026. The draft law provides for an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Draft law on pension increase

The Verkhovna Rada registered Draft Resolution No. 15059 dated 9 March 2026. The document provides for an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers to increase the minimum retirement pension.

The initiators of the draft law are Yulia Tymoshenko, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and other MPs. They propose to set the minimum pension at UAH 7,500 from 2026.

Next steps

After the draft resolution is registered, MPs expect the document to be considered by the relevant committees. If it is approved, the Verkhovna Rada will ask the government to take urgent measures to increase pensions.

Decisions on Increase in the minimum pension should be adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers. Currently, the minimum pension in Ukraine is much lower than the proposed level.

Context.

The increase in the minimum pension is part of the social policy to improve the welfare of pensioners. Previously, similar initiatives were considered by the Verkhovna Rada, but no significant increase was made.

The initiators of the draft law emphasise the need to increase pensions due to rising prices and inflation.
