The Orion spacecraft with the crew of the Artemis-2 mission has successfully returned to Earth today, completing the historic flight around the moon. This is the first time in more than 50 years that people have travelled around the Earth's natural satellite.

Return of the crew to Earth

The Orion capsule carrying the astronauts of the Artemis-2 mission has successfully landed in the Pacific Ocean today. According to NASA, the landing went off as planned. The crew and capsule are safe.

Historic flight around the moon

The Artemis 2 mission was the first human flight around the Moon in more than 50 years. During the journey, the crew travelled more than 406,000 kilometres away from Earth, which is 6,600 kilometres further than the Apollo 13 record in 1970.

Mission significance for future flights
