In Ukraine, 17-year-olds have been obliged to register for military service through a digital version of the military registration card - e-VOD. Documents will be checked at schools using the Reserve+ or Diia apps.
Electronic registration for conscripts
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has announced the launch of an electronic version of the prescription certificate - e-Water. The document can be generated independently through the Reserve+ mobile application or the Diia portal.
From now on, the e-VOD is the main form of military registration document for most recruits. It is legally binding in both digital and paper form.
Checking documents in schools
According to the new rules, schools will check whether 17-year-old students have an e-drive. To do this, it is enough to present an electronic document or its QR code confirming information from the state register.
The check is carried out only for the presence of the document without access to personal data. This simplifies the procedure and reduces the number of bureaucratic requirements for students and educational institutions.
Registration period
Young men should stand on the military registration conscripts in the period from 1 January to 31 July of the year they turn 17. The procedure is mandatory for all citizens of the relevant age.
The Ministry of Defence emphasises that timely registration allows avoiding administrative liability and simplifying access to public services in the future.
Legal force of e-water
An electronic military registration document is equivalent to a paper analogue. It can be presented on your phone or in printed form.
The Ministry of Defence emphasises that the e-VOD is recognised by all state authorities and has full legal force to confirm the status of a conscript.
