On 23 April 2026, the European Union officially imposed sanctions against Russian rapper Timati. The 20th package of restrictions covering key sectors of the Russian economy was also approved.
EU imposes sanctions against rapper Timati
The European Union has included Russian artist Timati to the sanctions list. This includes asset freezes, a ban on entry to EU countries and restrictions on financial transactions with EU companies and citizens.
The decision was made as part of the expansion of sanctions pressure on Russian figures who support aggression against Ukraine or engage in propaganda.
20th package of EU sanctions against Russia
EU approves 20th package today sanctions against Russia. The new restrictions cover key sectors of the economy, as well as the financial and energy sectors.
The sanctions targeted new banks, companies and individuals associated with the military, propaganda and circumvention of previous restrictions.
Restrictions for Russian ports and the «shadow fleet»
The European Union has imposed a ban on dozens of ships of the so-called «shadow fleet» from entering EU ports. The use of European port and logistics services is also prohibited.
The sanctions were extended to the Russian ports of Murmansk and Tuapse, as well as to foreign entities that helped to circumvent oil restrictions.
Expansion of export and import restrictions
The new sanctions package contains additional export and import restrictions. They are estimated at hundreds of millions of euros.
The EU continues to increase economic pressure on Russia in an attempt to limit its resources for warfare.
