The scale of the night attack

A total of 731 air targets were detected and tracked: 56 missiles and 675 attack UAVs. The main focus of the attack was Kyiv, but the shelling also affected other regions of the country. What means did the enemy use?
The attack was carried out using various types of missiles: three X-47 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation, 18 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk and Kursk regions, and 35 X-101 cruise missiles from the Vologda region of the Russian Federation. The attack involved 675 attack UAVs such as Shahed, Gerbera, Italmash, Banderol barrage munitions and Parodya simulator drones. They were launched from the territory of the Russian Federation, the temporarily occupied Crimea and other regions.
Ukrainian air defence deployed aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces.

As of 08:00, AIR DEFENCE managed to shoot down or suppress 693 targets: 41 missiles and 652 drones. In particular, 29 X-101 cruise missiles, 12 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and hundreds of enemy drones of various types were destroyed.
Despite the defence's success, 15 missiles and 23 attack UAVs were recorded at 24 locations. The wreckage of the downed drones fell at 18 other locations. The attack continues, with new groups of attack drones entering Ukrainian airspace. The defence forces are urging people not to ignore air raid warnings.
Why it matters
The night attack on 14 May was one of the largest in terms of the number of air strikes used since the start of the full-scale war. The large-scale air defence work once again demonstrates Ukraine's ability to protect cities and critical infrastructure even in the most difficult conditions. The constant threat from the Russian Federation requires the population to be vigilant and ready to respond to alarms, as attacks continue.
