Summit in Kyiv: European support for Ukraine

The summit brought together 24 countries, mostly from Europe, including Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and Belarus. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the importance of supporting the Belarusian people, who are seeking to get rid of Russian interference.

The summit featured presence Svitlana Tikhanovska and her team, who for the first time participated from the Belarusian opposition. This underscores Ukraine's desire for good neighbourly relations based on independence from Moscow. The participants discussed the threat posed by Russia's war against Ukraine and Europe, as well as the importance of joint efforts to defend the European choice and way of life.

Supporting security and European integration

The summit also discussed security priorities, including the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defence. This brings Ukraine closer to European standards of safety and security.

The President met with the mayor of the French city of Le Havre, Edouard Philippe, Chairman of the political party «Horizons», to discuss support for Ukraine, in particular the move towards memberships in the European Union. France reaffirmed its consistent support and stressed the importance of opening all negotiation clusters in the near future. Special attention was paid to energy assistance and defence cooperation, which are key to Ukraine's European future.
