Strengthening defence measures in Volyn

The Volyn Regional Military Administration has begun installing special anti-drone nets on strategic motorways in border communities. These traps are designed to intercept enemy FPV drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, providing additional protection for military and civilian equipment. In addition, we continue to build up our fortified borders with a system of strongholds and engineering barriers.

Use of natural features of the territory for protection

The region's defence is heavily based on the natural barriers of Volyn. The Polissya swamps and difficult terrain make it difficult for enemy heavy equipment to move, which increases the effectiveness of engineering measures. At the same time, this is causing concern among the local population, which is watching the intensification of defence works.

Security measures are being coordinated with the military command and the leadership of the border communities. In Kovel district, evacuation plans have been fully updated and verified in case of an escalation of the situation. Clear action algorithms and safe locations have been identified for the relocation of about 50,000 residents from four border communities.

The situation at the border is under control

The 203-kilometre-long section of the Volyn region's border with Belarus remains under the control of the Ukrainian defence forces. Border guard units and units of the Operational Command «West» continue to work in a reinforced mode, ready to respond to any provocations or threats.

Threat and security context

Although there has been no accumulation of enemy troops or equipment in the neighbouring territory, the ongoing Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus maintains a high level of risk of potential attacks or provocations. Therefore, defensive measures in Volyn are of particular relevance, and local authorities are urging the population to remain calm and trust the security forces.
