Kyiv mourns the victims of the attack

On 3 July 2026, Kyiv will pay tribute to the victims of the bloodiest attacks by the Russian occupying forces. In accordance with the mayor’s order Vitali Klitschko, national flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings in the capital. Owners of private buildings are also advised to comply with this decision.

There will be a strict ban on entertainment events and the playing of music in the city. This decision was made in response to the horrific consequences a massive combined attack, as a result of which the death toll rose to 13 civilians.

The number of casualties has also risen to 86, including children. More than 30 of the injured are currently in hospital, several of whom are in a critical condition and under the care of intensive care specialists. Rescue and search operations are continuing, as people may still be trapped under the rubble.

The most serious situation is in the Darnytskyi district, where, following a direct rocket strike, the structure of the building collapsed from the 1st to the 6th floors of a nine-storey block. Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service are continuing to clear the rubble by hand in the hope of finding any survivors.

The Kyiv City Military Administration is urging residents to be as vigilant as possible. They must not ignore air-raid sirens and, in the event of danger, must head immediately to the nearest shelters. This attack has been one of the most devastating for the city’s civilian infrastructure in recent times.
