Russian strikes on Kherson: two people injured

Two people were injured in Kherson following two Russian attacks during the night and on the morning of 17 July. At around 00:15, a drone struck a residential building in the city centre, injuring a 59-year-old man. Following the morning shelling of the Korabelny district, a 70-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition, according to the Kherson City Military Administration.

A night-time attack on a house in the city centre

According to the Kherson City Military Administration, at around 00:15, Russian forces attacked a residential building in the centre of Kherson using a drone. At the time of the strike, a 59-year-old resident was on the balcony of his flat.

The man was diagnosed with blast injury, a shrapnel wound to his left shoulder, superficial wounds to his right lower leg, soft tissue contusion to his torso and acoustic trauma.

A woman suffered serious injuries in the Korabelny district

At around 07:00, Russian troops shelled the Korabelnyy district of Kherson. A 70-year-old local woman was injured as a result of the attack.

She was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. Doctors diagnosed her with blast-induced and open head injuries, as well as shrapnel wounds to the chest. She is currently receiving treatment.

The Korabelny district had come under attack earlier this week

According to a statement by the head of the MBA Yaroslava Shanka, On 14 July, Russian artillery fire on high-rise blocks in the area injured three civilians — a 17-year-old girl, a 54-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man.

At the time, there were reports of damage to windows, façades, balconies and cars.

The effects of injuries may not be immediately apparent

On 15 July, the MBA reported the death of a 70-year-old woman from Kherson who had sustained injuries during a drone attack in the Dniprovskyi district on or around 11 July. This is a separate incident, unrelated to the woman injured on 17 July.
