Attack on Kyiv: one dead, two injured and fires in various districts

One person was killed and two others were injured as a result of a Russian attack on the capital overnight. Emergency services are dealing with the aftermath in several areas of the city.

On the night of 30 July, Russian troops launched yet another attack on Kyiv. One person was killed and two others were injured as a result of the strikes on the capital. Large-scale fires broke out in various parts of the city, and units of the State Emergency Service and other emergency services were called in to bring them under control.

According to preliminary figures, the most serious consequences have been recorded in the Svyatoshyn and Obolon districts.

What happened in the Sviatoshynskyi district

A fire broke out on the premises of a garage co-operative in the Sviatoshynskyi district. Whilst extinguishing the blaze, the emergency services discovered the body of a deceased person.

A man was also injured and has been admitted to hospital. The fire on the co-operative’s premises has now been brought under control.

In addition, in the same area, efforts are continuing to extinguish a large-scale fire in a five-storey non-residential building. Rescue operations and a search of the area are ongoing.

Fire at a market in the Obolonskyi district

In the Obolon district, a fire broke out in the market stalls on the premises of one of the markets as a result of the attack.

According to preliminary reports, one person has been injured. Emergency services have contained the fires and are continuing to work at the scene.

Clean-up operations are continuing

Units from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, medical staff, police officers and other relevant services are working at the sites of the strikes.

Information regarding the extent of the damage, the number of casualties and the circumstances of the attack is still being clarified. The authorities are urging residents of the capital not to ignore air-raid sirens and to follow safety guidelines.
