On the night of 30 July 2026, Russia launched a combined strike against Ukraine using ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as attack drones. At least seven people were killed, including two children. Ten people are known to have been injured. The effects of the attack were reported in Kyiv, the Dnipropetrovsk region and the Lviv region.

How did Russia attack Ukraine?
On the evening of 29 July and after midnight Air Force of Ukraine It was reported that several waves of X-101 cruise missiles had been launched from strategic bombers Tu-95MS and the Tu-160. Russian forces also fired «Kalibr» missiles from the Novorossiysk area.
Separately, the military issued warnings about the use of ballistic missiles and the movement of attack drones. During the attack, targets were detected in the direction of Kyiv, Lviv, Burshtyn, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and other cities.
A warning regarding the flight path does not imply that each of the specified settlements will be hit. As of this morning, the Air Force has not yet released the final figures for the number of targets launched, shot down and lost.
A person has died in Kyiv
In the capital The aftermath of the Russian attack has been reported in at least two districts. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a fire broke out on the premises of a garage co-operative. Whilst extinguishing the fire, emergency services discovered the body of a victim.
Another man was taken to hospital with injuries. In the same area, emergency services were attending a fire at a five-storey non-residential building.
In the Obolon district, retail pavilions within the market grounds caught fire. A man was injured. Rescue workers, paramedics and law enforcement officers were working at the sites where the strikes occurred and where debris had fallen. Details of the consequences are still being clarified. A fatality resulting from the attack has also been reported The KMVA and the Ukrainian media.
A rocket destroyed a family home near Kryvyi Rih
The highest number of confirmed casualties has been recorded in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. According to the chair of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council Oleksandra Vilkula, an «Iskander-M» missile, launched from the Voronezh region of Russia, struck a private home belonging to a family with many children.
Six people were killed: four adults and two girls aged 5 and 12. A further eight people were injured, including two boys aged 6 and 15.
A search and rescue operation was underway at the site of the strike. Due to the extensive damage, the number of casualties may change once the rubble has been cleared.
Residential buildings have been damaged in Lviv
Russian cruise missiles were also heading towards Lviv during the night-time attack. The mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported damage to residential buildings.
At the time of writing, the exact number of damaged buildings and the full extent of the damage had not been disclosed. Emergency services are surveying the sites of the strikes and where debris has fallen.
Following a missile attack near the Polish border, Poland has scrambled fighter jets and placed its ground-based air defence systems on high alert, according to The Guardian.

On the eve of the presidential election Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of a high likelihood of a new large-scale attack and urged Ukrainians not to ignore air-raid sirens.
