Kyiv has suffered one of the worst attacks in recent times. According to preliminary figures from the city authorities, nine people have been killed and a further 28 injured. Among the injured are four children aged between 13 and 17. Seventeen patients remain in hospitals in the capital. Rescue workers are continuing to clear the rubble and inspect the damaged buildings, so the death toll may rise.

In the Darnytskyi district, at least 13 high-rise buildings, as well as non-residential and warehouse premises, have been damaged. The Russian strike also devastated the «Velmart» hypermarket.
A five-storey residential block has been partially destroyed in the Solomyanskiy district. Rescue workers, paramedics, police and utility services are on the scene.
The consequences were recorded in seven districts of Kyiv
Damage was found in the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
In the Dnipro district, the blast wave shattered windows. In the Pechersk district, private homes have been damaged and destroyed. In various parts of the city, cars, commercial and administrative buildings have been damaged.
Experts are continuing to survey the areas and document the effects of the strikes. Details of the extent of the damage are being clarified.
Kyiv was shrouded in smoke following the fires
Due to numerous fires, the smell of smoke can be detected in the air in certain areas of the capital. Residents in areas with heavy smoke should close their windows and balcony doors, switch off any ventilation systems that draw in air from outside, and avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary.

The Air Force is to verify the data on the missiles
According to initial reports, Russia used ballistic missiles and «-type’ missiles during the attack«Zircon». There are also reports of around 30 strikes or locations where debris has fallen in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian Air Force is to report the final figures for the number of missiles launched and shot down, their types, and the results of the air defence operations. The number of recorded explosions or damaged sites does not always correspond to the number of missiles fired at the city.
The threat of further attacks remains
Ballistic missiles remain one of the most challenging targets for Ukrainian air defence due to their high speed and short reaction time. The exact stockpiles of interceptor missiles and the capabilities of the air defence system are not publicly disclosed.
Claims regarding the specific number of missiles that Ukraine is capable of intercepting, or regarding a scenario for the winter campaign already determined by the Kremlin, should currently be regarded as estimates rather than established facts. At the same time, the risk of further strikes on residential areas, the energy sector and logistics infrastructure remains high.
During an air raid alert, residents of Kyiv must proceed immediately to a shelter and remain there until the official all-clear is given.
