Air strikes, drones and artillery targeted the city and surrounding communities
According to the Regional Military Administration, 17 air strikes targeted Zaporizhzhia, Komyshuvakha, Novomykolaivka, Veselyanka, Yuliivka, Orikhiv and other settlements. Russian troops also carried out one attack using multiple launch rocket systems on Charivne.
The largest number of attacks — 790 — were carried out by drones of various types, predominantly FPV drones. The targets included, in particular, Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Komyshuvakha, Bilenke, Stepnogorsk, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Huliaipilske and Verkhnia Tersa.
A further 275 artillery strikes were recorded against settlements in the region, including Malokaterynivka, Stepove, Primorske, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka and Bilohirya.
The number of reports of damage may rise following inspections
Following the attacks, the authorities received 298 reports of damage to infrastructure, homes and vehicles. This figure refers to the number of reports, not the number of individual houses or flats: a single report may relate to different types of property.
This new damage adds to the already significant destruction of the city’s built environment. According to statistics from Zaporizhzhia City Council as at 1 July, Russian strikes have damaged 1,453 blocks of flats and 3,520 private homes in the city. Following previous attacks, the city’s services continued to receive reports and carry out inspections, so the number of reports regarding the current damage may change.
The intensity of today’s attacks, measured by the number of strikes recorded, was higher than that reported in the police summary for 23 July, which cited 1,001 attacks. This comparison highlights the scale of the pressure on the region, although a direct comparison depends on the types of weaponry and the methods used to record the data.
How the city is responding to the aftermath of the strikes
In previous cases, prior to dealing with the consequences attacks in Zaporizhzhia The municipal emergency and rescue service, the State Emergency Service, local utility companies, district administrations, social services and the police were called in. Their work involved surveying the affected areas, carrying out emergency repairs, temporarily boarding up broken windows and assisting residents.
