Kherson, UkrMedia, 5 August — In Kherson, a Russian FPV drone attacked a lorry belonging to the «ATB» retail chain. The strike caused a massive fire — the lorry was burnt out along with the goods inside.
A lorry caught fire after being struck by an FPV drone
After being struck by a Russian drone, the cab and other parts of the lorry were engulfed in flames. A column of thick black smoke rose above the site of the attack and could be seen from a considerable distance.
Footage released shows a lorry on fire near a retail outlet. The vehicle was transporting goods for the «ATB» chain. The fire destroyed not only the vehicle but also the goods inside the trailer.
Details of the cost of the destroyed goods and the vehicle have not yet been made public.
There is no information on the victims as yet
At the time of publication, there were no reports of any fatalities or injuries resulting from the attack on the lorry. It is also unknown whether the driver was in the cab at the exact moment of the attack.
The circumstances of the strike and the final consequences are still being established. There are civilian buildings near the site of the fire, including high-rise residential blocks and commercial premises.
Russian drones are attacking civilian vehicles in Kherson
The Russian military regularly uses FPV drones to carry out attacks on vehicles in Kherson and neighbouring towns and villages. The drones target passenger cars, public transport, lorries, emergency service vehicles and vehicles delivering food.
In July, the State Emergency Service also reported that an attack by a Russian FPV drone a car in Kherson. Firefighters often have to put out fires whilst under the threat of further strikes.
The destruction of a lorry carrying goods poses additional risks to the supply of goods to residents of this frontline city and once again highlights the dangers faced by Kherson’s civilian logistics sector.
