Protests have swept through Poland’s major cities
Demonstrations are taking place, in particular, in Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Poznań, Wrocław, Katowice, Rzeszów, Lublin, Łódź, Szczecin, Białystok and Kielce. Their aim is to protest against violence directed at Ukrainians and other minorities.
Petition to the authorities and expressions of support
On 7 August, the organisers held a demonstration under the slogan «My Poland does not beat, does not insult, does not incite» and submitted a petition with over 11,000 signatures to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. The petition calls for decisive action against violent attacks, particularly those targeting Ukrainian citizens.
During the current protests, «Don’t be indifferent» stickers are being handed out. People are being encouraged to display them on the doors of shops and other premises, as well as on cars. According to the Committee’s plan, these stickers are intended to show Ukrainians where they can find help, feel safe and receive support.
