
Zelenskyy: Norway has provided Ukraine with $150 million for energy support
Norway has decided to grant Ukraine a new energy aid package with a volume of about 150 million USD.
The funds will be used to purchase of gas for the winter period, The president said. Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Garr Stere.
Details of the meeting
«I thanked Norway for this assistance and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre during our meeting. I told him about the consequences of today's Russian shelling. We discussed Ukraine's needs for air defence systems, missiles and other steps that can strengthen our state in winter,» Zelenskyy said.
This is already Norway's third energy package for Ukraine in 2025.
The assistance is aimed at ensuring a stable heat supply and support of the Ukrainian energy system, which is subject to regular Russian attacks.
Cooperation in the defence sector
In addition to energy, the parties discussed the expansion of defence cooperation, In particular:
Joint production of drones and missiles;
development of the PURL initiative (a platform for the supply of arms and technology to Ukraine);
Strengthening the air defence system.
Coordination of activities in Europe
During the meeting, Zelensky and Stere coordinated positions on the eve of several international meetings, that will take place this week in Europe.
The President thanked Norway for unwavering support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, and for Solidarity after the recent attacks on energy infrastructure.
