59% US citizens believe that their country should officially recognise the state of Palestine. This is evidenced by the results of the survey Reuters/Ipsos, held on the eve of 22 October.

59% of Americans support the recognition of Palestine;
33% are against it;
The rest are undecided.
Among them. Democrats - support reaches 80%, among Republicans - 41%, while half of Trump's voters disagree with this step.
Context and political response
The survey shows that the majority of Americans contradicts the course of the Donald Trump administration, which opposes the recognition of Palestinian statehood.
The growing number of US allies - in particular UK, Canada, France and Australia - have already taken this step in recent weeks, which has provoked a sharp reaction from Israel.
About. 60% of respondents believe that Israel's actions in Gaza excessive, а 32% - disagree with this assessment.
Assessment of Trump's policy
Despite differences in views on the conflict, Trump's foreign policy approval rating rose to 38%, the highest level since July.
Over half of the respondents (51%) said that the president deserves «considerable credit» if his peace plan works, although only 25% Democrats agree with this.
International perspective
The poll shows a shift in public opinion in the US towards broader support for Palestinian statehood and humanitarian approach to the conflict.
Analysts note that this trend may create new political pressure on the White House and Congress, as the issue of Palestine is once again becoming a factor in US domestic politics.
