0

On 21 October 2026, the price of motor fuel continued to rise in Ukraine. At major petrol station chains, the price of premium diesel reached 109 UAH per litre, standard diesel exceeded 106 UAH, and autogas rose to 54.40 UAH at some operators. Meanwhile, A-95 petrol at five popular chains costs between 88.90 and 94.90 UAH per litre. The most noticeable increases in recent weeks have been observed in the diesel and liquefied petroleum gas markets. According to the «A-95» Consulting Group, the price rises are linked to high wholesale prices, limited fuel supply and logistical difficulties.

How much do petrol, diesel and LPG cost on 21 October?

Diesel is rising in price the most noticeably

The greatest price pressure in recent weeks has been on diesel fuel. Whilst its average retail price across Ukraine stood at 98.44 UAH per litre at the start of October, by 20 October it had risen to 102.23 UAH.

Consequently, in less than three weeks, the average price of diesel has risen by 3.79 UAH per litre. At the same time, some chains have already set significantly higher prices, particularly for premium grades of fuel.

According to Ukrmedia, On 21 October, OKKO and SOCAR raised the price of standard and premium diesel by a further one hryvnia per litre. WOG, UPG and Ukrnafta, however, kept their diesel prices unchanged from the previous day.

Fuel market analysts note that retail operators are gradually responding to the previous rise in purchase prices. As a result, price increases at petrol stations are occurring unevenly: some chains adjust their prices sooner, whilst others maintain their previous prices for a certain period.

Autogas is also continuing to rise in price

A noticeable rise in prices has also been observed in the liquefied gas market. At the start of October, the average price at Ukrainian petrol stations stood at 43.93 UAH per litre. As of 20 October, the figure had reached 51.37 UAH, representing an increase of 7.44 UAH per litre.

Among the five major chains, the highest price on 21 October was recorded at SOCAR — 54.40 UAH. At WOG, autogas costs 53.50 UAH, at OKKO — 52.90 UAH, at UPG — 51.90 UAH, and at Ukrnafta — 50.90 UAH.

Over the past 24 hours, the price of autogas at OKKO, WOG and «Ukrnafta» has risen by one hryvnia. The UPG network has increased its price by 40 kopecks, whilst SOCAR has left its price unchanged.

The industry publication Enkorr reports that the main reasons for the price rise are a shortage of the resource, high purchase prices and difficulties with its delivery. According to monitoring data, the average wholesale price of liquefied gas for the week of 13 to 20 October rose by 9,320 UAH per tonne to 91,680 UAH.

At some exchange auctions, prices have already exceeded 100,000 hryvnias per tonne. This is putting additional upward pressure on prices in the retail market.

What is happening with petrol prices?

Unlike diesel and LPG, the price of A-95 petrol has fluctuated much more slowly over the past few weeks.

According to the «A-95» Consulting Group, the average price of this petrol stood at 89.27 UAH per litre at the start of October. As at 20 October, it had risen to 89.85 UAH, an increase of 58 kopecks.

Among the major chains, on 21 October, standard A-95 is most expensive at SOCAR — 94.90 UAH per litre. At OKKO and WOG, it costs 92.90 UAH, at UPG — 89.90 UAH, and at Ukrnafta — 88.90 UAH.

At the same time, the UPG chain raised the price of petrol by one hryvnia. The other four operators left the prices of their main petrol grades unchanged.

Consequently, although petrol also remains expensive, the current surge in prices is being felt most acutely by owners of diesel cars and vehicles fitted with LPG systems.

Why is the price of fuel rising in Ukraine?

According to Enkorr analysts, the Ukrainian market is being influenced by several factors at once. First and foremost, these include limited supply of certain types of fuel and rising prices in the wholesale sector.

The situation is further complicated by logistical problems. In particular, adverse weather conditions periodically restrict navigation through the Sulina Canal, which is used for transport in the Danube region. Further delays are occurring on western supply routes due to a shortage of transport and queues.

The cost of imported diesel is also influenced by prices on the European market. Ukrainian companies purchase significant volumes of petroleum products abroad, so changes in international prices and logistics costs affect the purchase price.

As a result, wholesale prices may rise faster than retail prices. Some operators maintain their previous price tags for a while, but the subsequent rise in the cost of purchases is gradually reflected on the price boards at petrol stations.

What drivers can expect in the near future

The situation on the Ukrainian fuel market remains tense, primarily due to limited supplies of diesel and LPG. At the same time, prices vary across different petrol stations, so even within the same city, the difference can be several hryvnias per litre.

Future trends will depend on the cost of new consignments of imported fuel, the stability of logistics routes and the availability of the commodity on the domestic market. However, there is currently no reliable forecast as to exactly what levels prices will reach in the coming days.

As of 21 October, the highest prices for premium diesel amongst the five chains under review reached 109 UAH per litre, for standard diesel — 106 UAH, and for autogas — 54.40 UAH. Meanwhile, A-95 petrol continues to remain largely within the range of 89–95 UAH per litre.
