
IAEA: Russian strike damaged substations important for Ukraine's nuclear safety
According to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), due to of a combined Russian attack on Ukraine's energy system on 30 October A number of substations that are critical for Nuclear safety and security.
The Agency's teams, which are permanently located at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, reported loss of access to one of the external power lines on South Ukrainian and Khmelnytskyi NPP.

At the same time Rivne Nuclear Power Plant At the request of the power system operator, it was forced to reduce the capacity of two of its four power units, to stabilise power supply in the face of grid shortages and damage.
The IAEA stressed that despite the difficult situation, reactors remain under control, and the security systems are operating as normal.

In its statement, the agency called for stop attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, as they create serious risks to the safety of nuclear facilities.
The IAEA reminded that a stable energy supply is a key factor in maintaining reactor cooling and maintaining control over nuclear materials.
