In Kyiv, two men 74-year-old local resident and his 59-year-old accomplice - cheated an American volunteer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, promising to create a «laser weapon» to destroy enemy drones.
They claimed to have access to «secret technologies» and could develop a system capable of shooting down even ballistic missiles.
We trusted them, and the volunteer handed over to the fraudsters UAH 3.2 million.
Police investigations

After several weeks of waiting, he turned to law enforcement, who found that no project existed.
According to the investigation, both fraudsters acted deliberately and distributed the funds among themselves.
Criminal proceedings were opened against them for Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud on a large scale).
What's next
Both offenders face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Investigators are establishing whether they could have defrauded other people under the guise of «military developments».
