US-Russia talks on normalising relations put on hold
Negotiations between United States of America and Russian Federation on the normalisation of diplomatic relations paused, reported in the US Department of State.
According to the State Department, the next round of consultations on the resumption of the full-fledged work of the embassies in Moscow and Washington are not currently planned.
The US side stressed that «there are no conditions for a significant improvement in relations» and that any dialogue is possible only after changes in the Kremlin's aggressive policy and ending the war against Ukraine.
Context.
Diplomatic relations between the US and Russia remain at their lowest level in decades. Since 2022, the activities of both embassies have been restricted, the number of staff has been reduced and most visa programmes have been suspended.
Earlier it was reported that technical issues were discussed to ensure the work of diplomats, but No progress has been made.
