Verkhovna Rada collects signatures for vote of no confidence in Svyrydenko's government

In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine signatures for a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko have been collected, Parliamentary sources say.

The initiative follows the publication of the «NABU tapes», which includes government officials involved in corrupt schemes in the energy sector.
The deputies demand investigation and political accountability of all officials involved.

«If the facts are confirmed, the government that committed such abuses cannot remain in power,» said one of the initiators of the signature collection.

Procedure.

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, in order to consider the resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers, it is necessary to collect at least 150 signatures of MPs.
If this number is reached, the parliament can put the issue of a vote of no confidence to a vote as early as the next plenary week.

Sources in the Rada note that Representatives of several opposition factions are actively collecting signatures, and some coalition MPs are dissatisfied with the scandals surrounding the energy sector.

Context.

The vote of no confidence was initiated against the backdrop of corruption scandal at Energoatom“, through which the government has already Suspended several senior officials, а NABU and SAPO announced a number of suspicions.
Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko said that the government is “fully cooperating with anti-corruption authorities” and supports the investigation, but Opposition demands political solutions.
