Ukraine to receive 8 SAMP/T air defence systems from France - Zelenskyy and Macron announce new stage of defence cooperation

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with the President of France Emmanuel Macron announced that Ukraine will receive eight SAMP/T air defence systems - one of the most effective European missile defence and air defence systems capable of intercepting ballistic and cruise missiles.

Macron confirmed that Ukraine will receive a new, more advanced generation of SAMP/T, and will become the first country, where it will be deployed.

The headquarters of the Coalition of the Willing and the possible deployment of troops

Macron said that near Paris, the headquarters of the Coalition of the Willing forces« - format that will coordinate support for Ukraine by countries willing to participate in security operations after the active phase of the war is over.

The French president clarified that «we are talking about the possible deployment of Western military contingents in regions of Ukraine remote from the frontline after a ceasefire is reached».
It is not about participation in combat operations, but about training, stabilisation and defence missions.
