«Support forces» to appear in Kyiv and Odesa after agreement is signed

The so-called «security forces» after the signing of the relevant agreement between Ukraine and the partner countries. This was stated by the President of France Emmanuel Macron, explaining that the contingent will include troops from the UK, France and Turkey. These are special units that will perform support and stabilisation functions, but will not take part in combat operations.

Details

Macron noted that the force is being created to protect critical infrastructure, enhance technical assistance and logistical support, and strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities in cities far from the front line. According to him, the contingent will be part of a broader system of security guarantees that partners are developing together with Kyiv. The deployment of such units is coordinated within the framework of the so-called «coalition of the willing», which France initiated in the spring of 2025.

Context.

International support forces are seen as a key element of Ukraine's future security architecture. They are expected to contribute to stability in major cities, maintain infrastructure and strengthen the protection of important state institutions against the backdrop of ongoing threats from Russia.
