According to NBC News, During his visit to Kyiv, the US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll allegedly told the Ukrainian side that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were in a «very difficult situation» and were actually moving towards inevitable defeat from Russia.

The channel's sources claim that Driscoll also spoke about:
- russia's «almost indefinite potential» to continue the war,
- a forecast of a deterioration in Ukraine's position in the coming months.

Proposal for a peace agreement

According to NBC News, the minister allegedly suggested that the Ukrainian side consider the option of of a peace agreement now, to avoid further escalation and high losses.

The United States denied the statement

After the article was published, the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement calling the NBC News information false. According to him, Driscoll did not make such assessments and did not offer Ukraine any peace agreements or compromises.

Washington confirmed that the US continues to support Ukraine in its war against Russian aggression.
