Marchenko: Ukraine will introduce a tax on parcels up to 150 euros
Minister of Finance Sergey Marchenko announced that Ukraine will introduce a tax on international parcels worth up to 150 euros. According to him, this decision «will not please everyone» but is necessary:
«It turned out that most of the small parcels came from one country, which is sometimes unfriendly to Ukraine,» the minister hinted at China.
Transition to the European system
Marchenko also said that Ukraine plans to fully switch to European practice of taxation of online purchases. This means that the individual buyer will pay the tax immediately at the time of purchase in the online store.
This is how the system works IOSS in the EU.
When the new system goes live
According to Marchenko, the changes will be implemented gradually:
«We had to come to this anyway, we'll just do it in a year... We'll have time to prepare and rebuild.».
