The partners offered to exchange part of the occupied Donetsk region and the ZNPP for other Ukrainian territories
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that some international partners have offered Ukraine exchange part of the temporarily occupied Donetsk region and Zaporizhzhya NPP to Ukrainian territories that Russia has not yet seized.
According to Zelenskyy, such options were voiced as one of the «compromise models» that could allegedly speed up the end of the war. However, he emphasised that Ukraine does not accept any scenarios that involve the exchange or transfer of its territories, and will not consider such formats.
Context.
The Ukrainian government has repeatedly rejected proposals that include territorial concessions to Russia. Kyiv's official position remains unchanged: restoration of the 1991 borders and security guarantees are key conditions for any negotiations.
Zelenskyy also said that any peace agreement that involves the loss of Ukrainian land is unacceptable to society and incompatible with international law.
