В Elysee Palace have already responded to the Kremlin's statement, welcoming Moscow's public agreement to a possible dialogue.
«We welcome the fact that the Kremlin has publicly agreed to this approach. We will announce the best course of action in the coming days,» the French presidential administration said.
Terms of possible negotiations
At the same time, the Elysee Palace stressed that any discussions with moscow will take place:
у full transparency;
in close coordination with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy;
together with European partners.
The ultimate goal of such contacts, according to the French side, is to achieve «a lasting and durable peace».
Context.
The statement came amid discussions within the EU about possible formats of diplomatic engagement with Russia, despite the ongoing war against Ukraine. Kyiv has repeatedly stressed that any negotiations with Moscow are possible only if they respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
