Defence forces hit an oil depot in Volgograd region and a number of facilities in the Russian rear

On the night of 10 January, the Ukrainian Defence Forces launched a series of strikes against Russia's military and logistics infrastructure, hitting an oil depot in Volgograd region, as well as a number of enemy targets in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine and behind enemy lines.

According to preliminary data, the operation was aimed at reducing Russia's ability to supply fuel, drones and manpower to its groups at the front.

Details

The key target of the attack was the Zhutovskaya oil depot in the Volgograd region. It is reported that the resources used to refuel the occupation forces were destroyed, which could significantly affect the enemy's logistics.

In addition, warehouses and drone control centres in Zaporizhzhia and near Pokrovsk were hit. These are the facilities involved in the preparation and coordination of drone attacks on Ukrainian territory.

They also struck at places of concentration of Russian forces in Donetsk region. Units of the 76th Division and the 41st Army of the Russian Federation in the areas of Hirnyk and Kurakhivka came under fire.

Context.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified strikes against Russia's rear targets, including oil depots, ammunition depots and UAV control centres. Such operations are aimed at weakening logistics, reducing the intensity of shelling and complicating the supply of Russian groups at the front.

Experts note that the damage to fuel infrastructure has a direct impact on troop mobility, equipment operation and the ability of Russia to support offensive operations.
