Ukraine is strengthening its air defence: redistribution of functions between units has begun - Syrskyi
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky announced the strengthening of the air defence system and the beginning of the redistribution of functions between anti-aircraft missile forces and a new type of troops responsible for covering important facilities.
According to him, the relevant organisational measures are already underway.
Current air defence effectiveness
Syrskyi noted that over the past two years, the effectiveness of Ukraine's air defence has been maintained at approximately 74%, The Group plans to increase this figure through innovation and technological development.
He also emphasised that the enemy uses daily 100 to 200 Shahed-type attack drones, The Russian Federation has been conducting air strikes against the Ukrainians, periodically combining them with massive missile and air strikes.
New approaches to protecting the sky
In difficult weather conditions, anti-aircraft missile troops play a key role, while in favourable weather they are actively involved:
fighter aircraft;
helicopters;
interceptor drones.
This complex allows you to destroy up to 70% and more of air attack assets.
Separately, the number and quality of interceptor drones is being increased, as well as cooperation with partners to overcome the shortage of missiles for air defence and fighter aircraft systems.
Context.
Strengthening air defence remains one of Ukraine's key tasks amid Russia's ongoing missile and drone attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure.
It is expected that the new management structure and division of functions will increase the effectiveness of protection of critical facilities and the resilience of the state's airspace defence.
