There is currently no information that independently confirms that the base was hit or that aircraft were damaged.

Details regarding the nature of the attack and its consequences are still being verified

Monitoring sources reported that explosions were heard in the Borisoglebsk area, and that a fire may have broken out following the attack. However, there are no independently verified video recordings or satellite images that would allow the exact location of the fire to be determined.

The local publication «Obozrevatel.Vrn» reported that at 16:33, the regional authorities had warned residents of Borisoglebsk about possible loud noises in the evening due to the work of bomb disposal experts. It is not known whether this announcement was linked to the subsequent explosions.

Governor of the Voronezh Region Oleksandr Gusev On the night of 13 October, he claimed that 32 had been destroyed drones flying over the region. This report concerned a different, night-time attack and does not establish the circumstances of the events that took place that evening.

The airbase is home to Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM aircraft

The Russian Aerospace Forces use the «Borisoglebsk» airfield to station aircraft and train flight crews. According to the Ukrainian military, aircraft are stationed there Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM.

Russia is using these types of aircraft in the war against Ukraine, in particular for strikes using guided aerial bombs and other combat missions. The base contains facilities for flight support and aircraft maintenance.

If the damage to military infrastructure is confirmed, its consequences will depend on the specific facilities affected. It is too early to assess the potential losses to the air force at this stage.

The airfield had previously been the target of Ukrainian attacks

On the night of 3 October 2024 SBU drones, Special Operations Forces and other units of the Defence Forces attacked the airbase. Ukrainian media sources within the security services stated at the time that the targets were depots of guided bombs, parking areas for combat aircraft and aviation fuel storage facilities.

In July 2025, the Special Operations Forces reported damage to an aviation ammunition depot and a combat training aircraft. On the night of 8 July 2026, explosions and a fire near the airfield were recorded once again; ASTRA’s OSINT analysts suggested that the base had likely been hit, based on eyewitness footage.

As of the evening of 14 October, the Ukrainian military command had not confirmed that the facility had been hit again. Reports of its possible consequences remain preliminary.
