Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has warned of the risk of delays in social security payments and salaries for public sector workers should resources be limited. According to him, funding for the security and defence sector will be the priority in such a situation, whilst other expenditure will only be covered once funds become available. To secure the funds, MPs must vote in favour of the IMF’s draft legislation, which includes a tax on parcels, the minister noted.
